Unlike the previous versions, Windows 10 does not allow users to turn off the automatic update feature. The Windows Update control panel allows users to disable automatic updates in Windows 10 had been hidden, and there is no option in the application settings to turn off the automatic update feature.

However , if you are using the version Pro of Windows 10, you still can make the necessary changes to establish ” Windows Updates” to notify users that an update is available ( users can install if they want ). This option will ensure that Windows 10 does not download and install updates automatically. This article will show you the solutions for automatic updates by using Registry. 


Note: This method just can be applied for version Pro of Windows 10, though Registry Editor is available in Windows 10 Home, but this solution is not for Home edition.

Turn off the feature automatic updates completely. 


When applying this method, you should create restore points in Windows 10 to ensure that you can restore the original Windows 10 when there are any errors happens!

First, type “regedit” into the search box in the Start menu or taskbar then press Enter. Click Yes when you see the User Account Control box.

Then right-click on “Windows” > click New > and then click Key.

Name the “Key” with the name “Windows Update”

Now you have created the new “Key” is “WindowsUpdate”> continued right click on “WindowsUpdate” > click New> click “Key”> and then name “AU”

Click the new key “AU” > on the right, right-click on the blank area > select New > click DWORD (32-bit) Value and name it “NoAutoUpdate”

Finally, double-click on “NoAutoUpdate”, and set the data corresponding to the following values

Enter 0: To enable automatic updates

Enter 1: To turn off automatic updates
