When you install Microsoft’s newest operating system Windows 10, you will notice that it comes preloaded with a ton of default apps. Although these apps don’t take up much space on your hard drive, you can remove them from your system if you no longer use. Following are three methods that you can follow to do it. Let’s check it out.
Step 1: Click on the Start menu and select Settings
Step 2: In the Setting app, navigate to System and tap on Apps & features
Step 3: Choose the app you want to remove and click on Uninstall
It takes you just some seconds to remove a default app you no longer use from your Windows 10 operating system.
Step 1: Launch the Start menu and click on All apps. Then a list of installed apps is presented.
Step 2: Find the app you want to remove, right-click on it and select Uninstall.
You can use method to remove apps including Windows Media Player, Microsoft Solitaire Collection, Get Skype, Optional Features, Money, Get Started, Windows DVD Player, Get Office, Phone Companion, Sports and News.
There are some apps such as Mail, Movies & TV, Calendar, Calculator, People, Camera, Photos, Maps, Store and Weather can’t be uninstalled from the Start menu. To remove them, you have to use the PowerShell.
Step 1: Launch the Start menu, go to All apps and select Windows PowerShell
Step 2: Right-click on Windows PowerShell and select Run as administrator
Step 3: When a window appears and asks if you want to allow this app to make any changes to your PC, click Yes
Step 4: Type the following command to remove the camera (for example):
Get-AppxPackage *windowscamera* | Remove-AppxPackage
You can use the same command to uninstall other default apps but you have to replace windowscamera with the following text:
Alarms and Clock: windowsalarms
3D Builder: 3dbuilder
Calendar and Mail: windowscommunicationsapps
Groove Music: zunemusic
Voice Recorder: soundrecorder
Movies & TV: zunevideo
