Windows 7 was officially launched over six years ago and has become the most popular operating system today. However, with the recent release of Microsoft’s Windows 10, the new version of the OS will be a welcome change that you should experience.
Windows 7 users can get Windows 10 for free any time during the first year after its launch. If you are using the Home Premium edition of Windows 7, you will be updated to Windows 10 Home. You may not upgrade directly from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 10 Pro.
After the upgrade, you Home Premium users will lose some features such as Windows Media Center, Remote Desktop server, BitLocker encryption, Hyper-V virtualization, the ability to delay updates and the ability to join a Windows domain.
|You won’t have to pay a cent when you upgrade to Windows 10 within the first year.
However, you won’t be missing out on much as Windows 10 offers a wealth of new and helpful features that you will want to try. Especially, if you don’t like the OS after the upgrade, it can be rolled back quickly to the previous version. If you want to upgrade to Windows 10, here are some easy steps that you can follow:
Step 1: Windows 10 upgrades require Windows 7 SP1, so you need to make sure that your PC runs Windows 7 SP1.
Step 2: Download the Get Windows 10 tool. There are two versions of the tool that you can download: 32-bit and 64-bit. Then you click the Start button, right-click Computer and then go to Properties. Download the tool that matches your current OP and then run it.
Step 3: Install the upgrade
When it comes to installing the upgrade, there are two options for you: Upgrade this PC now and Create installation media for another PC. Choose the option to ‘Upgrade this PC now’ and the tool will start downloading Windows 10. Once the download process is finished, you will be presented with three options:
-keep personal files and apps
-keep personal files only
Select ‘Keep personal files and apps’ and Windows 10 will start installing. After a few reboots and customizations, you’ll be upgraded.
